tl;dr Which is looked at first, longest match or the BGP decision process

I'm taking a course on BGP right now and trying to figure out how these two routing processes work together.

I know that a more specific route is preferred in the router over a less specific one (192.0.0.0/25 will always be chosen over 192.0.0.0/24)

I also know how the BGP decision process works (Local pref is looked at before AS_Path, ect)

So my question is, if an AS has 2 neighbors, and it advertises a more specific network to one of them than the other, then some other AS down the line gets both of those advertisements, will longest match take affect automatically and the more specific one will automatically be chosen? Or does the BGP decision process happen first, therefore only one of the routes is put into the route table and longest match has no impact on it at all?

We (the groomsmen) are going in on one larger wedding gift, but we were wondering if it was appropriate for our gift to be more to just the groom instead of to both of them. They already have all the normal home things and the registry is very small so it will mostly or completely be bought by other guests. Also we aren't planning/paying for a bachelor party since the groom has said we're all just going to hang out for a few days before the wedding instead.

So I know when your using big cisco routers/switches you're suppose to use a crossover cable when connecting directly from the router to the PC. However home routers like the little linksys ones usually connect straight to the PC. Are the pins switched or are they just smart enough to know a PC is on the other end and auto switch?

This question stems from trying to figure out why adding a cisco 3500xl switch between a linksys 3200 and the PC drops the speed test from 80mbps to 30

I recently replaced the head gasket on my '87 Toyota Celica because the radiator fluid was leaking into the oil (no oil going into the radiator) however about 50 miles after replacing the gasket it seems that there is still radiator fluid mixing with the oil. The heads didn't look damaged when I was replacing the gasket, but its possible there was warping subtle enough I couldn't see it (I wasn't actually able to get to them, just lifted a bit of the top half of the engine off so that I didn't have to detach the intake systems).

Basically the question is, is there anything else that could have been causing the problem, or do I need to try and get the cylinder heads out?

I recently changed the head gasket on a 1987 toyota celica and now whenever I try to start it the engine is very rough and the first time there was a squealing noise coming from around where the timing belt is. When I tried to adjust the distributor I could adjust it as far as it goes each way and the engine was still knocking badly.

This is the first time I've ever done anything that involved taking the engine apart, so a few things I realized I messed up, I should have put marks on the cam shafts for replacing them and didn't. I took pictures of their location so when I replaced them I put them where it looked like they were (I think correct within a degree or two). There was a dot on each one which (I think) should meet up each revolution, so I counted the teeth on the gears so that they would line up and the two cams would be in sync with each other at least.

Basically I was wondering if this is actually a timing issues, do I need to readjust the cams, something else? Also are there any good forums I can ask about this in, since there will probably need to be some back and forth.

I have a small solar panel that puts out 3-3.5V in full sun and was trying to figure out the best (least wasted power) way to make a small battery charger (5V usb out) with it. The best I could think of was use a voltage booster and then run that through a 5V voltage regulator. I was also thinking of adding a supercapacitor so that I could charge that and not have to leave my phone or whatever sitting there for as many hours.

Does anyone know of a better way to do this , also please point out the errors in my suggestion, because I'm sure they're there. Thanks in advance for the suggestions

Hello, I'm trying to get access to a mysql 5.6 server on a computer in a different location running windows 2012. The server has port 3306 forwarded to it and when I use the mysql workbench I can connect. I was using it and I preferred the command line so I tried connecting with ssh secure shell and I get "connection closed by remote host". Do I need to do something special to make ssh work on the server or something else?

I know that lines usually mean a bad graphic card, but this seems really odd, it will be very localized, like through the chat bar on the right of facebook, or something like that, and after minimizing/maximizing it sometimes fixes it.

The system is running windows 8 x64 with Radeon HD 7850

Both the current (13.1) and beta (13.3) AMD drivers were tried.

The card is less than a month old, so it will probably just end up getting RMA'd back to newegg, but I thought I'd see if anybody knew if its a fixable problem first

I've seen lots of things about not overcharging or applying to much voltage, but is there a minimum? I want to use some old solar panels that are laying around to charge a spare phone battery with, but they only get up to around 2 volts and .01 amps and I was wondering if that was ok to charge Li-Ion's (or anything else) with?

I was wondering if this was at all possible as a diy project and if so, what else should be replaced at the same time while its all striped down (there's probably something else going bad after 170k). The car is scrap at this point anyway since the replacement at a shop would cost more than its worth, so I figured this would be a good time to try a harder project since it doesn't matter if I screw it all up.

I just finished building a new rig and the new fx processors (or at least mine) seem to be a little taller than older ones, so the stock heatsink is on very tight, hence the need for a temp monitor.

I was wondering if anybody knew of a reliable temp monitor that was compatible with the fx series, so far I've tried: Real temp doesn't work (Intel only I think?) and HWmonitor (gave an idle temp of 11*C, which is significantly less than room temp, so not possible). The BIOS reading (asrock 990fx extreme 3) gave the cpu temp as 48*C, but that doesn't do each core and I can't really see it after I boot.

I have a computer with server 2003 on it and am trying to make a second partition with xp on it (it doesn't have enough RAM for 7). I just finished putting XP on it, which works fine, but when I try to boot server, the bios finishes loading and the screen goes black (the computer stays on). I have an acronis back up for before and after I repartitioned it (using GParted). Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a webpage and am trying to put a sidebar on the right of each page, to avoid changing the text on each page every time it needs changing I made a seperate HTML page for the side bar, I just can't figure out how to load it in the main page. Sorry if that was at all confusing.
