What kind of light rays are you thinking of? Do you want a ray like an extraterrestrial's laser weapon would make or are you thinking of artistic light rays like from the sun or just freaky multiple light rays from an unseen source? How about spotlights moving around on the video? How do you want the rays to be moving? Shooting out? Moving back and forth? Both shooting out and moving sideways?

Corel offers 3 Flash animation packages for $29 each. Volume 2 is lighting effects but I don't know if it includes light rays.

Video Studio Pro X5 Ultimate includes the ProDad Vitascene effects generator which includes a number of light ray categories (which each have presets and a gazillion controls). If you have VSP X5 Ultimate, click my avatar and email me and we can help each other learn how to use it:-)

You can also make light effects with WAX. I've tried learning it a couple of times but kept getting lost in all the controls.

Depending on what light rays you need, you can look through the clips available at the the Clip Archive in the 2 Particle Effects sections. These clips are easy to use in VSP. You put the clip in the overlay track (video track 2) and just chroma key it (like green screening except you remove the black). You use it like a picture in picture and can resize it, move it, rotate it, etc.

Look in the obvious categories first: ordnance, fire, space, sparkles, tunnels (has some strange light effects) and the "Various" categories.

ADDITIONAL: I don't want to download from sites I'm not familiar with. Since I have VSP X5, can you just tell me what Instant Project it is with the category (Beginning, Middle, Ending, Complete) and the number (T__)? Please.....

ADDITIONAL2: Aw.... I feel horrible having to tell you that this animation is an SWF (Shockwave Flash) file and can't be made in VSP.

This video shows how to make SWF animations using 2 free programs, Inkscape and SWFTools but I think it would take less time to collect cans and bottles and sell them for the $$$ to buy a 3D Flash animation program than it would take to learn Inkscape and SWFTools - especially since SWFTools only works from a command line (doesn't have an interface with clickable buttons).

You might be able to do something like the template with Motion Studio 3D.

I'm sorry this kind of dead-ended for you:-(
