A very good question. The reason why China earns no respect from all around the world mainly due to CCP's cruel and inhuman oppressions towards her fellow Chinese PEOPLE.

Certainly democracy is a good start to open up China's policies to checks and balances and a better scrutinized system in supervising the wrong-dos of the ruling team which is non existence under the present secretive dictatorship.

DO NOT listen to CCP's DL, her job is to promote CCP so that CCP could hole onto power, grab corrupted money and wealth.

Why India, Brazil, Indonesia, so forth that are also on the rise do not generate as many enemies as China? The problem lies with CCP's closed door dictatorship that decides everything for China by the 7-CCP-super-elites all done behind closed doors. Don't take CC P's lies about envy and fear China's growth.

In Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the government there are much more caring towards the People than CCP does, and the PEOPLE there don't get executed in criticizing wrong-dos of the government.

Russia's attempt to democratise its country weakened the central government, and lead to the fall of the USSR.

    China wouldn't make that mistake.

And regardless of how democratic it is, opposing countries will always find reasons to fear China's military arsenal and standing army.

This "democracy" banner is just a bandwagon, American politicians say it to have the higher moral ground in an argument, they don't believe in it (they don't even enforce democracy in the lawyer-bogged Senate, how can they claim to be for the people?)

China will never reform to become a multi-parties democracy, because this is determined by the situation in China. China is a socialist country, and its system is a centralized system.

Yes China still has enemy no matter what, because China still has territory dispute with its neighbours.Even this problems solved, China still facing the US for world domination,China has to let the Americans laed the whole world and folowing its policy, otherwise China will be like Russia now (many Russians still like the old Soviet then this weak Russia-always bully by the Americans)

Yes. Because in most of its disputes, mainly territorial, China is the aggressor. If you don't think so, then you've probably bought into the Chinese propaganda. I think it is in the best interest of all the countries involved esp. China to learn to cooperate and share the natural resources. Remember the lessons of WW2.
