is this a scam in a dating website ?

Hi ,

i got to know a girl in a dating website , as she said she is from brentwood , NY , she said to me through email that she works in sales in a shop and gets just $500 a month , we shared some emails and had some chats , till she said that she fell in love with me and told me she would like to visit me soon ( i am from outside US) , she asked me to send her money for the plane ticket and to renew her visa , along with some money to buy clothes , shoes , and for toiletries , she requested about $3000 . 
 do you think i should pay her and move on or this may be a scam ? i am new to this and don't know what to do so please give me some advice . 
 if anyone has experienced same stories then please tell me how it ended up .

This is a SCAM, I hear about this type of thing all the time, block her from your email contacts and DO NOT send her one penny.

It's a scam with a capital S. . . Do not send her any money and stop all contact because this person will try to sweet talk you into sending money . . .

Of course it's a scam. You would have to be so gullible to send the money.

I wouldn't pay it. Perhaps meet her first before you give her money. If you have to, then go visit her.
