How will Orlanda Cabrera act/perform in San Francisco?

The Giants have just acquired Orlando Cabrera from the Indians for Thomas Neal, the 96th ranked prospect in the nation by Baseball America. First and foremost, what do you think of the deal? Was it better for the Indians or the Giants? Personally, I think the Indians win on this one, they get a solid hitting prospect for a 36 year-old dried up utility infielder. That being said, how do you think Cabrera will perform offensively and defensively at shortstop, where he will spend most of his time? This deal makes me feel like Sabean is getting desperate trading for a shortstop with the slash line: .244/.277/.321 when he has Miguel Tejada: .242/.274/.334. I'm assuming that he thinks that Cabrera will be a defensive upgrade over Tejada and an offensive upgrade over Crawford.

BQ: Chances of Giants getting Michael Bourn?

@eric r: and yeah they totally didn't win any playoff series last year because of their weak offense right?

As an Indians fan, I think the Giants win, for now at least. Orlando has played some pretty good defense this year, and he's had some clutch hitting performances. His batting average isn't great, but I don't think he's washed up. He recently lost most of his playing time to Jason Kipnis

I think the Indians came out ahead on this trade. Cabrera isnt going to do anything for the Giants weak offense. They are winning games because of their defense and pitching. Carbrera doesnt bring a bat to SF at all, he is batting .196 in July. They needed a back up SS because of an injury. He will contribute in the field but that is not where he is needed most. SF wont win a playoff series this year b/c of their weak offense.

Well considering Tejada is injured...it makes sense. But for Thomas Neal? Not really what I wanted to see at all. We'll see how he does, could be a good acquisition, you never know.

BQ: Meh, an okay chance, but the Astros want a Major League ready player for him...I would love to see him in the City though

there is plenty once you assessment the two places that that's purely too plenty to enumerate. they at the instant are not something alike and that i've got lived in the two cities. I dont comprehend why people continuously asking approximately those 2 cities at the same time. i think of long island is plenty greater like l. a. by using fact L.A. is packed with NYers and is rapid, huge money, and the land of threat in each thing like NYC. San Francisco is slower, tinier, purifier, like Boston in many techniques, well mannered people, small transit equipment. i could think of you may learn Seattle with long island, no longer San Francisco by using fact that's a huge city.
